Angela Chan

British East-Asian musician, producer & composer

Currently on tour with Placebo on keyboard, violin and backing vocal duties, Angela is a member of Mercury Prize shortlisted band Lanterns on the Lake (Bella Union), cinematic folk sextet Tomorrow We Sail (Gizeh Records) and electro-psych rock collective Hello Cosmos (Cosmic Glue Records).

 

2023 will be an exciting year with the continuation of Placebo's Never Let Me Go tour and the release of several records Angela has worked on including Lanterns on the Lake's fifth studio album 'Versions of Us' with Philip Selway (Radiohead) guesting on drums.

From classical beginnings, Angela has journeyed from orchestral ensembles to dynamic amplified performances. Most often seen with a viola and plethora of effects pedals, her multi-instrumental skills encompass piano, synthesiser, violin, and vocals.

 In 2019, Angela debuted her solo side project Ameiyi supporting Korean avant-rock band Jambinai followed by a performance at Green Man Festival.

Away from the stage, Angela produces original audio and sound design for film & television, theatre and creative installations. Recent commissions include incidental music for BT Sport's Champions League with Lanterns on the Lake, and audio for VR sensory experience The Conductor (shortlisted Vodafone Top 50 Tech Starters). Theatre credits include PAINT (2015), From Shore to Shore (2017) & My Life with the Wave (2022).

From her studio in Leeds, Angela offers remote session recordings and music production services such as orchestrations, string arrangements, and programming.
